Aurora is at home

Here are some pictures.
Ari has been home for a few days. Even after here extraordinary birth, her hospital stay was not extended. So she is home with us and has been doing well. She is calm, quite a good baby.
She is a tiny thing but she is staring to show that she will be strong. Aidan is being a great big brother, and Isaac isn’t hitting her. Things are good.

Aurora Evelyn Jo Gibson has arrived

Well She final came. Aurora Evelyn Jo Gibson was born August 21, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
After all this time waiting she came, within hours, really minutes. She was 6lbs 8oz and 20 inchs long.
It started when Stacie called me at work and told me to come home; I rushed home as fast as I could.
Jolene was at our house and I was told to just get in the car with Stacie and get to the hospital. Stacie was having strong contraction a few minutes a part and they had been going since five she said. They were very strong and, for me, scary.
We got in Jolene’s car so we didn’t have to transfer car seats and we were off. I won’t go in to the car ride in, lets just say I shaved a few minutes off the drive.
We went to check in and we were taken in to the prep room because Stacie water had not broken. So they were going to monitor her there.
As few minutes later I heard Stacie’s water break, and was told to go get someone. When I got back I heard Stacie tell me to come in and catch the baby. Yes, come in and catch the baby.
I rushed into the room and could see the head. I caught the head and with a push out popped Aurora. The Nurse had gotten in there with me and we had the baby supported, but because of the way she came out as we lifted her the cord was wrapped around her. About this time I’m realizing she is not crying and started to freak, but we got the cord unwrapped and she took her first breath, and the cry she let out is the most beautiful sound I have ever heard.
We got Ari up against Stacie belly because the warmer wasn’t even in the room yet. At this point there were four or five people in the room helping us out. We got the cord clamped and I kind of took the scissors out of the other nurses’ hand so I could cut the cord. I figured I could do that I had done so much up to this point. Once the cord was cut the nurse took Ari to the warming table and we got Stacie into the bed. She had done this all sitting down.
Now started the cleaning up time. I’m not going to go into detail; lets just say it was not pretty.
I went with Ari to the nursery so she could be checked out I had to stay with her because they didn’t have the ID bands yet. We really hadn’t been checked in.
In the nursery her oxygen levels were low but after less than a half hour those levels were up and she was sucking like a pro. She did manage to get a mouthful of fluid at that had to be sucked out of her tummy, but considering everything she came through it like a pro.
After Aris’ bath I got to go back to Stacie.
Stacie was doing ok considering everything. I think she was holding up better than I was. I will admit I have not been that sacred for a while.
I’m home tonight with the boys in the hope they and I can sleep.
I have left some things out, but that’s OK.
Thank you to the Nurses at the hospital that care so much.
Thank you to Grandmas that took the boys so I could concentrate on Stacie.
Thank you to our supportive families.
A beautiful healthy strong little girl that has joined our family.
I need sleep.

The results are in.

We had the race tonight. The picture is on the stand that I won and yup that says first place. It was a lot of fun. It is interesting what a bunch of grown men will come up with for kids’ activity. I wasn’t the only one with a motor on his car but it was only one that worked right. I made the comment a few times that you shouldn’t give a engineering student a idea like build a fast car and only limit him to weight, but I have to admit I haven’t had that much fun in a while.
There were some simple cars and there was one that was truly was a work of art. I got to the race a little early and got time to make some adjustments. I added some rubber bands to give some traction and clearance but it wasn’t enough. So the brace holding the motors in had to go. I was worried that the motor would fall out but it held in place and it gave my car the jump it needed.
We were told that Stacie could have the baby now that I had won the race. I really don’t think Ari was waiting for that.
Aidan was great, he had to help me race and so he put the car on the track and switched the engine on. He was so excited to watch the cars race. Afterwards he was running around and racing the car up and down the track.
A big change from when I went to work. Giving him a hug he started to cry, then he was complaining about his arm hurting and didn’t stop. Stacie called me at work and was worried because he was continued to complain and babied the arm. Stacie took him to the Doc’s before the race and he’s ok, just popped his elbow out of place and it popped back in. The doc’s not worried and after watching him play, I’m not either.
He is a boy and plays like one. I’m sure it’s not the last of injuries.
I guess the parents’ cure is in full swing; he is just like me.
O well, I wouldn’t want him another way.
I just hope he is as smart has his mother.

Ready to Race

Ok the derby car is done. I’m ready to race. Here are a few pictures. The switch activates the motor and off she will fly.

I did find that soldering with a dirty tip is not the easiest thing. I had tip cleaner but since I hadn’t used my gun in years it was dried out. Oops.
Wish me luck.

Baby update

no baby yet

Derby Update

Well the derby car is just about ready. Had the day off so spent the morning building the body of the car. I have to say I love me dermal tool. It enabled me to get the area for the battery and the motor just right, and the switch fit right in front of the motor so I can solder the leads from the battery right to the motor and to the switch.
Did a little flame job and added green strips for Aidan.
I will use the drill press at Grandma Kirby’s to polish the axels and wheels and final assembly will probably take place tomorrow night. I just hope I can find my solder iron.
The race is Saturday. I hope to make a good show before the motor blows up. That would be the coolest.
Will post pics when I’m done.

Pizza Delivery Etiquette

Ok I have to say this. A pizza delivery driver drives for tips. He usually doesn't get but a pittance from the delivery fee for gas reimbursement. This is for gas and does not help with the maintenance on the cars and he is probably not working for a great hourly wage. So you should tips if they are there in a reasonable amount of time and under not circumstances should you ask the driver to change a ten for you when you are not tipping him.

I had a guy tonight, he gave me a twenty on the 19.42 tab, and then asked if I could change a ten fro him. Thinking it was for the tip I did, but no it was for his bus fare for tomorrow. 58 cents is not a tip.

bad bad karma.

ok I feel better venting that.

The Press

OK There was a mine that collapsed here in Utah. The owner of the mine had a press conference today.

Before I go any further I have to say that I really feel bad for the families. It must be a really really ruff time for them. My heart and prays go out to them

I heard most of it and it was weird. He was very defensive and really called the media to account for what they print. He was claiming that some to a lot of what was reported was done from someone that had a political agenda.

Ok the man is on edge and stressed, but as usual everyone that is reporting it now is reporting on his behavior that happened today.

I'm getting the "don't you dare question the media” attitude coming from the reporting.

I really don't like the press and kind of like it when someone calls them on the carpet.

It seams that the press can report what ever they want and don't you dare question them and their "experts". The press has very little responsibility, and answerability to America.

I guess that is why I’m skeptical about everything I hear

o well

shed update and stuff

Well the shed is done, and already on it’s what to being packed full. Jill reminded me that I hadn’t posted a follow up on it so here the picture. It’s pretty.
I think I’m going to go crazy.
I mentioned that I interviewed with a company in American Fork. Now I really feel good about the interview. I had some really good answers, to questions that should have disqualified me, but I haven’t heard from them. I sent a email to the guy I interviewed with a few days ago but nothing yet.
A real pain, the last pace I applied for never told me I was not considered, it was my friend the tuned in my application that told me.
I really hate applying and interviewing.
O well I will have to do that so long as I’m working.
Not much else going on, except Stacie is off bed rest now. She thinks Aurora will be coming next week.
